There is extraordinary detail in the world around us, in the rough grain of tree bark, the fractured face of a rock, the quiet geometry of things we walk past without a second glance. This workshop invites you to look closer, and to stitch what you find there.

In this first session of a two-part series, we'll begin by exploring a curated collection of close-up photographs of natural elements ~ bark, stone, and other found textures ~ using them as the starting point for an original abstract embroidery design. We'll talk through the process of translating what you see into something stitchable, and you'll settle on a direction that feels like your own.

From there, we'll move into creating your background using watercolour, building a soft painted base for your work before beginning to consider which stitches might best capture the texture, depth, and feeling of your chosen design. You'll begin stitching before the session is done, laying the first threads of what will grow into something quietly remarkable.

Part 2 will build on everything begun here ~ introducing new stitches and exploring additional elements such as beads and fabric pieces to deepen the texture and dimension of your work.

This workshop is designed to feel like a creative pause ~ slow, soothing, exploratory, and grounding. Whether you're new to embroidery or already love working with a needle and thread, you're welcome here.

Come and find the art in nature's detail, one stitch at a time.
